Oakland County Veterans Resource Fair to be held in Waterford
The Oakland County Veterans Resource Fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 30, at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center, 2100 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford Township.
Representatives will be on-site to serve all veterans, active duty, guard and reserves, and their families with resources, including free nonperishable food boxes.
Other resources will include the following:
• Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinicscheduling free dental appointments.
• Detroit VA Healthcare System offering registration help and exams for non-enrolled veterans.
• Dorsey College Cosmetology Program will have hairstylists on-site giving free haircuts to veterans.
• Oakland County Veterans’ Services will provide information and claims assistance regarding veteran’s benefits and give away $50 Meijer gift cards. To be eligible, recipients must be a veteran and Oakland County resident and must present a copy of DD214.
• The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency will be attending so veterans will be able to get a print-out of their DD214 on-site.
• Oakland Community Health Network to address any behavioral health issues and concerns, including health screenings.
• Oakland County Michigan Works! to provide veterans and their families with career planning, training programs, job search resources and the opportunity to meet with an employment specialist.
• Oakland County Housing and Neighborhood Development will be available to help residents with housing counseling and more.
