Matick Automotive Group acquires Art Moran Buick GMC
Redford Townshipbased Matick Automotive Group, has purchased Art Moran Buick GMC in Southfield.
The Art Moran dealership, located at 29300 Telegraph Road, (at 12 Mile Road), has been rebranded as Matick Buick GMC, effective Monday, Feb. 6, according to a press release.
Tom Moran, the youngest of Art Moran’s seven children, has served as the owner/operator for the past 18 years. Last year, he decided to retire and sell the business to the Matick Automotive Group.
The Matick Automotive Group owns George Matick Chevrolet of Redford Township, and Matick Toyota in Macomb Township.
All employees of the former Art Moran Buick GMC are expected to receive offers to continue in the same or similar roles.

A longtime member of the Matick Auto leadership team, Mary “Molly” Williams, will be the dealer operator.
She is currently the vice president of Matick Automotive Group and was previously executive manager of Matick Toyota.
Williams and Matick’s other vice president, Paul Zimmermann, will hold a significant percentage of the new venture, along with Matick Automotive Group majority owner and CEO Karl Zimmermann.
GM Financial and Horizon Bank provided financing for the transaction. Terms of the agreement between the two private entities were not disclosed, according to the press release.
The dealership property includes more than six acres with two building totaling more than 60,000 square feet.
One of those buildings was a former Mitsubishi dealership.
Art Moran became a Pontiac dealer in 1956, and later opened his own Pontiac dealership in 1973, at the current dealership site in Southfield.
He added GMC in 1975, and the Buick brand in 2007. Moran had been a World War II Navy veteran. He died in 2015.
