‘Hockey doc’ Zvi Levran charged with 4 more sex crimes
Four more sex crime charges have been filed in Farmington Hills against “hockey doc” Zvi Levran, MD.
The latest charges the 66-year-old Farmington Hillsbased urologist faces are two counts each of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and fourth-de- gree criminal sexual conduct that allegedly happened in September 2021 in Farmington Hills. Levran was arraigned on the new charges on Feb. 28 in 47th District Court, where 27 charges are now filed in 11 cases for sex assaults he’s accused of in Farmington and Farmington Hills, stretching back to 2018.
Levran also faces two similar sets of charges in 48th District Court, where he’s charged with two counts each of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree criminal sexual conduct for alleged incidents in West Bloomfield Township last year.
Levran is held in the Oakland County Jail on multiple bonds that total more than $4 million. A preliminary exam on the Farmington Farmington Hills charges is scheduled for April 11 before Judge James Brady. Then on April 28, he’s scheduled for a preliminary exam on the West Bloomfield charges before Judge Kimberly Small. At the exams, evidence will be presented and the judges will decide if there’s probable cause for the cases to be bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.
Levran has been associated with youth hockey and related sports programs for at least 20 years. The case against him began to unfold last October when a 19-year-old man came to the Farmington Hills Police Department to report an alleged sexual assault that he said happened during a medical exam at Levran’s home office. An investigation led to the first seven charges filed against Levran, and within weeks additional charges were filed based on criminal complaints. The most recent charges were filed on Feb. 27.
Several law enforcement agencies at state and national levels have been involved in the Levran investigation.
Levran is affiliated with medical offices in Farmington Hills, Livonia and West Bloomfield, and has also practiced medicine in Ohio, Minnesota and Georgia. Along with his licensure in those four states, Levran has been licensed to practice medicine in Iowa, according to Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King.
