Company names Lyon Twp. home to U.S. HQ
A global automotive assembly line supplier will locate its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operations in Lyon Township, creating 45 jobs.
DESign USA Inc. chose New Hudson, an unincorporated community in Lyon Township, for the $19 million project over a competing site in South Carolina.
The local site was chosen because of the company’s established relationships with Michigan-based suppliers and customers, according to a release from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The company plans to construct a 153,000 square-foot facility that will be used to design and build automotive automation equipment. It will also serve as the company’s U.S. headquarters. The Michigan Strategic Fund is supporting the project with a $466,650 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
DESign USA headquartered in South Africa, has completed projects for Ford, BMW, Stellantis, Tenneco and others since its founding in 2017, the release said. The company anticipates the project could lead to future expansions and investment in the state, according to the governor’s release.
