The woman punched in the face two years ago by Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon has sued the Norman restaurant where the incident happened.

Amelia Molitor filed the lawsuit Friday against Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

That was the same day Molitor filed a lawsuit against Mixon in federal court in north California, where Mixon is from.

The lawsuit alleges that the restaurant on Campus Corner in Norman, which stays open until 3 a.m. on weekends, should have provided security.

“(Pickleman’s) knew or had reason to know that it should reasonably anticipate dangerous conduct on the part of third persons on the premises,” the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit contends the restaurant owed Molitor, 22, adequate precautions against criminal activity.

The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $75,000, plus punitive damages and attorney fees.

Mixon hit Molitor in the face during an altercation in the restaurant July 25, 2014. Molitor suffered fractures of her jaw, cheekbone, sinus and orbital bone.

Mixon, 20, was charged with a misdemeanor. After entering an Alford plea that allowed him to continue to assert his innocence, he served one year of probation and was required to complete 100 hours of community service and ordered to undergo cognitive behavior counseling.

He was also suspended from the football team for a season.

Both lawsuits came just days before the second anniversary of the incident, the deadline for Molitor to file the lawsuits.

Molitor recently told The Oklahoman that the emotional damage from the incident was worse than the physical problems she’s suffered.

“Sitting here, dealing with an extremely traumatic injury, having my name dragged through the mud,” Molitor said. “The physical part was manageable to me. All the rest seemed unbearable. Almost immediately, I was made to feel like it was my fault. When you’re at such a vulnerable point, you tend to believe it.”
