Coger funeral set for Saturday in hometown

The funeral for Tyrek Coger will be Saturday in his hometown of Elizabetht­own, N.C.

The Oklahoma State basketball player died last week after he collapsed after an offseason workout. He had arrived in Stillwater earlier this month after having an admission issue at Ole Miss and reopened his recruitmen­t.

Coger’s funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at Elizabetht­own Middle School.

COWBOYS ADD WR COMMIT

Oklahoma State bolstered its receiving corps late Monday with a commitment to its 2017 class.

— a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect from Arlington Bowie (Texas) — made his pledge on Twitter. He wrote: “Excited and blessed to say that I will further my Football career/Education and commit to Oklahoma St. #GoPokes.”

Johnson chose the Cowboys over Colorado State, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana Monroe, Minnesota, Tulsa and Utah State. He is the third receiver in the class, joining (Gilmer, Texas) and Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas). OSU now has 16 total commitment­s.

DATES SET FOR OKC, TULSA COWBOY CARAVANS

With football season just six weeks down the road, OSU fans will soon have the opportunit­y to discuss the state of the program with coach Mike Gundy.

The Cowboy Caravan is hitting both metropolit­an areas of the state. Here’s the schedule breakdown.

Oklahoma City — 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, OSUOKC

Tulsa — 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, OSU-Tulsa

Each event will include fan activities, including appearance­s by Pistol Pete, the spirit squad and pep band, a photo booth, face painting and games for kids. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase with a cash bar.

A coaches discussion panel will also take place, tentativel­y including Gundy, basketball coach

softball coach and athletic director Holder. Reserved seats are available for $10 and can be purchased online at orangeconn­ection.org.
