GROUP FORMS OKLAHOMA CHAPTER
Women in the transportation field have a new resource available to help with their professional development and networking as the first chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar in Oklahoma recently became official. Women’s Transportation Seminar is an international organization with nearly 6,000 members and is a resource for both women and men to gain new opportunities and insight in the transportation field.
The newly formed Women’s Transportation Seminar Oklahoma chapter is scheduling events in Oklahoma City and Tulsa as a way for members and the board to meet as many potential members as possible and highlight the topics and programs important to the group. The chapter was formed with the support of Oklahoma Transportation Department Executive Director Mike Patterson, who saw the benefits the group has to offer through his interactions with other state transportation leaders.
The group’s first monthly lunch is scheduled for Sept. 7 in Oklahoma City. Dawn Sullivan, director of capital programs for the state Transportation Department will be the featured speaker. The cost is $15 to attend and can be paid by cash or check at the door. Information also will be provided on the benefits of joining Women’s Transportation Seminar, including upcoming programs, mentoring opportunities and career and scholarship resources.
