PRESERVATION OFFICE MEETING SET
The Oklahoma Historical Society’s State Historic Preservation Office will hold a public meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 16 to provide information about the National Historic Preservation Act and how it supports statewide preservation, and receive public input on its fiscal year 2017 Historic Preservation Fund application to the U.S. Department of the Interior. The meeting will be in the Oklahoma History Center classroom, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, just northeast of the state Capitol.
The State Historic Preservation Office expects to receive about $830,000 from the federal fund to help pay for historic preservation including surveys to identify archaeological and historic resources; nomination of properties to the National Register of Historic Places; comments on the effects of federal undertakings on archaeological and historic resources; developing the statewide preservation plan; administering the Certified Local Governments Program; and other work.
