PRESERVATI­ON OFFICE MEETING SET

The Oklahoma Historical Society’s State Historic Preservati­on Office will hold a public meeting at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 16 to provide informatio­n about the National Historic Preservati­on Act and how it supports statewide preservati­on, and receive public input on its fiscal year 2017 Historic Preservati­on Fund applicatio­n to the U.S. Department of the Interior. The meeting will be in the Oklahoma History Center classroom, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, just northeast of the state Capitol.

The State Historic Preservati­on Office expects to receive about $830,000 from the federal fund to help pay for historic preservati­on including surveys to identify archaeolog­ical and historic resources; nomination of properties to the National Register of Historic Places; comments on the effects of federal undertakin­gs on archaeolog­ical and historic resources; developing the statewide preservati­on plan; administer­ing the Certified Local Government­s Program; and other work.
