Realtor when the box is opened — and by whom — it can be set to open only during certain hours, and it is accessible only through the same resources as listed for the newer ones. I don’t know of any difference,” she said.

The new lockboxes are an upgrade, whether or not the technology itself is brand-new or cutting-edge, said Chad Neathery with Metro First Realty.

“Most Realtors that work in the more rural areas use the combo boxes, and I think it’s a disservice for security to the clients. The advanced technology will help the listing Realtor assure the client that they are doing their best to protect their assets,” he said.

The change makes sense to Steve Reese, assistant team leader at Keller Williams Realty Elite.

“In the end, this is simply a cost of doing Go Code QOEM For a video, enter the Go Code above at Oklahoman.com business, and our costs do increase from time to time,” he said. “I’m not in favor of using a less secure method that does not track entry simply for the sake of a discount. Personally speaking, I would choose options that raise professionalism and client service and find ways to decrease expenses in other places.”

In addition to complaining about the inconvenience of having to exchange the devices and the cost, there was grumbling that other, better brands should have been considered, that there is no consistency with lockboxes across different boards of Realtors and MLS systems — and that the change and the fussing about it were distracting from the business of selling houses.

If your Realtor was fussy this week, now you know why.
