Seiling coach Brian

Haynie spent a lot of time calling Jaestin Nelson’s number last season, and it worked out well.

Nelson, now a senior, rushed for more than 2,600 yards and 34 touchdowns as Seiling finished 10-2. With Nelson returning to the backfield, Seiling is viewed as the favorite by coaches in District B-1.

Quarterback Todd Sander threw for 1,300 yards last season. And last year’s leading tackler on defense, Brock Hedrick, is back at linebacker after a stellar freshman season.

LAVERNE’S CAYOT HAS EXPERIENCE TO WORK WITH

Transitioning from Fairview to Laverne, coach

Chris Cayot steps into a situation where he’s surrounded by a lot of experienced players.

The Tigers return starters at seven positions on each side of the ball, including running back Hunter Person, who accounted for more than 1,200 yards from scrimmage at 24 touchdowns last season.

Dalton Sparks and Lane Fanning, both returning starters on defense, will see time at running back as well, with senior Trey Allen at quarterback.

Tracer Raven is a thirdyear starter at tight end and defensive end, where he had 95 tackles and two sacks last year.

EXTRA POINTS

Shattuck is making the move up from Class C this season, and the powerhouse program is expected to be a top-10 team … Turpin will rely on Trevor Mote, a 6-foot, 190-pound quarterback and linebacker.
