Write and enter a 10-minute play
Carpenter Square Theatre is accepting submissions of original 10-minute plays from Oklahoma writers for the theater’s 13th Annual Ten-Minute Play Contest.
Winning plays will be performed as staged readings at “Best in Ten,” a benefit event for the theater planned later in the year. Deadline for submissions is Oct. 4. Submission guidelines are as follows: •Scripts may not exceed 10 minutes in reading or performance. More than one script may be submitted.
•Playwright must be living in Oklahoma. Students from Oklahoma who are attending out-ofstate colleges may submit.
•A separate cover letter should include the title of the play, the playwright’s name, address, telephone numbers, email address and a bio of 100 words or less. The playwright’s name may not appear on the script.
•Three copies of each script should be submitted if submitting by regular mail or drop off.
•Scripts should be approximately 7 to 10 pages typed in 12-point font on 8.5-by-11-inch paper in standard play script format, and must have a reading time of no more than 10 minutes. The pages may be secured with one staple in the upper lefthand corner, but should be unbound.
•Scripts should include a brief synopsis, list of characters, brief character descriptions and given circumstances.
•Scripts should be a complete play, not an excerpt from a longer work.
•Materials must be received no later than 6 p.m. Oct. 4. Materials may be hand-delivered, emailed or postmarked by deadline date.
•Selections will be made by Oct. 18, and writers will be notified if their script has been selected. Scripts will not be returned, although writers may pick up their scripts in the Carpenter Square Theatre office after Oct. 25. The winning writers will receive two complimentary tickets to the benefit event, where their work will be presented, as well as a gift from the theater.
