RESTAURANT SENDS $3,240 TO FOOD BANK
Stella Modern Italian Cuisine, 1201 N Walker Ave., recently celebrated its sixth anniversary by giving back to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The celebration, which featured heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages, raised $3,240. This will provide the equivalent of more than 16,200 meals for hungry families, seniors, veterans and children throughout central and western Oklahoma.
Every donation to Food for Kids between now and Sept. 30 will be matched, up to $150,000, thanks to the Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma, Top of the World, David Gorham and two anonymous families. FRIENDS OF THE POOR WALK SET

The Friends of the Poor Walk, sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul Society, will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 24 at All Saints Catholic School, 4004 36th Ave. NW. Family activities include the symbolic 1-mile walk, silent auction and various raffles. A T-shirt is included with the $10 donation.
The 1-mile walk is a symbolic trek to support those who struggle in poverty. It benefits needy individuals and families living in the Moore, Norman and Purcell areas by raising funds to provide housing, utility assistance, disaster relief and furniture. All proceeds directly benefit those who need it.

HISPANIC FESTIVAL HAS FUN FOR EVERYONE
La Independencia de Mexico, the largest Hispanic event in Oklahoma, will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sept. 18 at Interstate 35 and SE 44 Street, next to Buy for Less.
This free, family-oriented event will feature live music, Mexican horse culture, traditional Mexican food, children’s activities, artists, folklore performances and more.

AIDS CARE FUND MAKES CHANGES
The Oklahoma AIDS Care Fund announced it has hired Lany Milner as special events director. She will oversee the Red Tie Night fundraiser and will be responsible for creating new fundraising and outreach opportunities.
Milner has more than eight years of special event and medical conference management, along with fundraising, budget oversight and publication design skills.
Also, Michi Medley has been promoted to government and community liaison. Medley had previously served as development and marketing coordinator and now will be responsible for creating a new HIV/AIDS advocacy program.

SAM PRESTI TO RECEIVE HUMANITARIAN AWARD FROM OCCJ
The Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice will honor Sam Presti, executive vice president and general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder, at the 2016 Humanitarian Awards Dinner on Sept. 6 at the Skirvin Hilton.
Presti’s commitment to make the Thunder organization inclusive and diverse extends beyond the team. He exemplifies the tenets of the OCCJ mission through his Forward Thinking Leadership Development program, which provides high school sophomores and juniors from Centennial, John Marshall and U.S. Grant high schools with an in-depth look at accountability, self-awareness, collaboration and leadership.
Under his leadership, Thunder players have made more than 1,600 community appearances. Presti currently serves on the board of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and served as chairman of the Oklahoma Standard campaign.
