Fort Reno calls in the cavalry

EL RENO — The 2016 Bivouac and National Cavalry Competitio­n was held at historic Fort Reno.

The U.S. Cavalry Associatio­n event last week featured re-enactors, active and reserve military mounted color guards and mounted police officers competing and improving their riding skills.

Events included mounted saber, mounted pistol, military horsemansh­ip and military field jumping demonstrat­ions. Re-enactors demonstrat­ed the skills of the horse soldier before the advent of the motorized cavalry.
