Man gets 15 years for sexually exploiting teen

An Edmond man was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl in Florida.

Carlos Alexander Davila, 23, admitted to persuading the minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography. Oklahoma City federal prosecutors alleged Davila threatened to post the girl’s nude photos online when she tried to end their relationship.

U.S. District Judge David L. Russell chose Davila’s punishment. Davila pleaded guilty in July to sexual exploitation of children.

Davila contacted the victim through Facebook after she posted a comment about her friend committing suicide, police reported.

“Davila offered, via Facebook, to help her, saying he was going to school to become a psychologist,” an Edmond police detective reported in a court affidavit. “He began asking her for nude photographs in exchange for helping her with her friend’s suicide.”

The victim said she told Davila she was only 14 and he said it didn’t matter, the detective reported. The victim told a Florida detective that she ultimately sent up to 20 nude photos of herself to Davila through Kik, a smartphone app, according to the affidavit.

The victim said Davila later became possessive of her and told her, “If I can’t have you, then no one can,” according to the affidavit.

Davila called the victim his “wife” and said, “If you do not have sex with me, then I’m going to have to rape you,” the Edmond detective reported.

Davila then threatened to send her nude photos to an unknown website when the victim tried to end their relationship, according to the affidavit.

In a text to the victim, Davila said he would “leak everything” to his “hungry friends in need of fresh meat,” police reported.

Davila told police he didn’t post the nude photos online but made the victim think he had, police reported. Davila said he used a texting app to trick the victim into thinking other people were messaging her about seeing the nude photos online, according to the affidavit.

Prosecutors said Davila first made a friend request to the victim in March. Davila was charged in May.
