Keyshawn Embery scores 47 points to power Midwest City

-

In Tuesday night’s first quarter, Midwest City junior guard

had scored one point, missing every jump shot he took, and three of four free throws.

The next three quarters went very differently.

Embery became the driving force in the third-ranked Bombers’ offensive onslaught, finishing with 47 points in a 90-62 win over No. 7 Putnam City West at Midwest City.

“The first half, I wasn’t hitting. I was going to the hole, trying to get to the free-throw line and feel my rhythm,” Embery said. “But Coach

told me to keep shooting and keep being aggressive, so that’s what I did.”

Embery had 14 in the second quarter as Midwest City (11-2) built a 43-20 lead, and he capped it off with a 32-point second half. Bomber junior forward

— who received a football scholarship offer from Arizona State coaches who were in attendance at the game — had 15 points as Midwest City continually pushed the tempo with its offense.

“We try to outscore people,” Bradley said. “These guys can really score the ball. Defensively, they do what they need to, when they need to, but offensively, they’re pretty good.

“And it’s not just Keyshawn. Redmond, nobody has an answer for him, and our other guards can score, too, and that makes it difficult for other people to guard.”
