Oklahoma has indefinitely suspended freshman defensive back Parrish Cobb after an arrest warrant was issued for a possible connection with armed robberies in Texas.

NORMAN — An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Oklahoma cornerback Parrish Cobb in possible connection to a string of armed robberies, the Waco (Texas) Tribune reported.

Cobb is being sought for a string of recent crimes in Waco and nearby Bellmead.

“We are aware than an arrest warrant has been issued and are making arrangements for Mr. Cobb to turn himself in,” Cobb’s attorney, John Lewis, told the paper. “We look forward to addressing these allegations at the appropriate time.”

Cobb, 19, is expected to turn himself in at the McLennan County Jail sometime Wednesday, Lewis said.

The university released a statement Tuesday night announcing that Cobb was suspended indefinitely.

“We are aware of the matter, and Mr. Cobb is suspended indefinitely from all athletics participation. The University will review the matter further consistent with its student conduct process.”

Cobb was named in the warrant as a suspect in a Jan. 10 armed robbery in Bellmead, Lewis told the newspaper.

At 11:23 that night, police were called to a convenience store after a man said he was robbed at gunpoint after stopping at the establishment.

The man was approached by a passenger in a dark-colored vehicle; the passenger brandished a gun and robbed the man, according to the paper. No injuries were reported.

A courthouse source told the newspaper that officers executed a search warrant on a Dodge Challenger registered to a member of Cobb’s family.

The car had an OU parking pass in its window.

Two other similar robberies happened during a three-day span with the others occurring in south Waco and on the Baylor University campus.

The south Waco incident happened earlier Jan. 10, when a darkcolored vehicle pulled up next to a man walking and a man jumped out of the passenger side of the car, pointed a pistol at the pedestrian and demanded his wallet, police told the newspaper.

On Jan. 7, a robbery occurred outside a building on the Baylor campus. No one was injured in any of the robberies.

Cobb played in four games for the Sooners as a freshman this season, starting two before an injury kept him out of eight consecutive games. He appeared in the regular-season finale against Oklahoma State.

Cobb did not play in the Sugar Bowl win over Auburn but was available for that game.

The former Waco La Vega high standout initially committed to the Sooners before ultimately signing with Baylor.

But after the sexual assault scandal that led to the firing of thenfootball coach Art Briles, Cobb eventually was released from his letter of intent and instead wound up in Norman.
