Yukon to return land
The Oklahoma City Council is set to take back 57 acres it allowed Yukon to annex two years ago. The property is along Interstate 40 at Frisco Road, in far west Oklahoma City, on Yukon’s west side. Yukon originally annexed 251 acres for a sports complex. Terms forbid commercial use of the property, an outcome that would deprive Oklahoma City of tax revenue. Since then, Yukon has encountered financial problems. A memo to council members says Yukon turned to Oklahoma City last year with a proposal for commercial development on the south portion of the sports complex, near I-40. By annexing the property back into the city limits, Oklahoma City could benefit as growth follows construction of a planned Frisco Road interchange.
