City reclaims land
The Oklahoma City Council voted to take back 57 acres it allowed Yukon to annex two years ago. Yukon originally annexed 251 acres along Interstate 40 at Frisco Road, in far west Oklahoma City, for a sports complex. Since then, Yukon has encountered financial problems. Yukon turned to Oklahoma City last year with a proposal for commercial development on the south portion of the sports complex, near I-40. Oklahoma City could benefit as growth follows construction of a planned Frisco Road interchange.
It’s a fact
Oklahoma City’s outdoor burn ban remains in effect. The Fire Department intends to reassess conditions March 10 and will determine then whether to extend the restrictions.
Police: Be wary of scam
Police warned last week about a scam in the vicinity of NW 122 Street and MacArthur Boulevard. Kids posing as prep athletes talk their way into houses by pretending to be collecting donations for their teams, then swipe stuff when the homeowners’ back is turned.
Election: Status quo
Voters last week re-elected current councilmen in wards 1, 3 and 7. Todd Stone and Richard Morrissette will compete in the April 4 runoff for the open seat in Ward 4.
