Embiid’s season over with left knee problems

-

The Philadelphia 76ers said Wednesday before their game against the Miami Heat that is done for the season.

Monday’s MRI scan revealed the rookie center’s left-knee bone bruise has “improved significantly.” However, it showed the meniscus tear is the more pronounced of the two injuries and worse than the original diagnosis suggested.

Embiid hadn’t played since Jan. 27. He missed his first two NBA seasons with right foot issues, then finally made his debut this season and appeared in 31 games with the 76ers.

Embiid averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds this season.

Cavs open roster spot for Bogut

The Cleveland Cavaliers opened up a roster spot for free agent by waiving guard

Bogut was expected to clear waivers on Wednesday and the 7-foot center’s agent tells The Associated Press that he intended to sign with the defending NBA champions.

Bogut, who gives Cleveland a needed rim protector and backup for will join the Cavaliers later this week.

Bogut was a starter for the Warriors in 2015, when they won it all, and again last year, when they blew a 3-1 lead to Cleveland.

His addition comes two days after the Cavs signed veteran point guard

a former All-Star who gives the team depth, experience and another playmaker.
