Sooners win pitching duel with Tulsa

Caleigh Clifton delivered a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning as ninth-ranked Oklahoma downed Tulsa, 1-0, in Norman on Wednesday.

The Sooners’ Paige Parker (6-3) pitched 10 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits in picking up the win. Tulsa’s Emily Watson (8-3) pitched nine scoreless innings before giving up a run in the 10th.

Parker opened the bottom of the 10th with a double, then was removed for pinch runner Hannah Sparks. Raegan Rogers followed with a single to center and one out later Clifton lifted a gamewinning single to left, plating Sparks.

Clifton was 2-of-5 in the game with a double and an RBI.

It was the seventh straight win for the Sooners. OU (16-4) plays host to Omaha on Friday for a doubleheader and again on Saturday against Illinois-Chicago.

Cowboys whip Wichita State

Oklahoma State blasted 13 hits Wednesday on its way to an 11-3 win over Wichita State in six innings at Cowgirl Stadium. The 13-hits marks the fourth-straight game that the Cowgirls have reached double-digit hits. The Cowgirls (14-9) have scored 32 runs in back-to-back games.

Taylor Lynch went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Madi Sue Montgomery was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Trailing 3-2, OSU scored five runs in the bottom of third and four more in the sixth to run-rule the Shockers. In the circle, Brandi Needham (7-4) went six innings and allowed three runs for her fourth complete game of the year.

OSU next heads east for the Rebel Classic in Oxford, Miss., for five games beginning Friday.
