The Oklahoma City University women’s basketball team is on top once again. The Stars topped LewisClark State (Idaho), 73-66, in the NAIA Division I national championsh­ip game at Rimrock Auto Arena on Tuesday.

BILLINGS, MONT. — The Oklahoma City University women’s basketball team is on top once again.

The Stars topped Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), 73-66, in the NAIA Division I national championsh­ip game at Rimrock Auto Arena on Tuesday.

The win marked the program’s ninth NAIA Division I women’s basketball national championsh­ip and its fourth title in six years.

The Stars were led by senior forward Daniela Wallen. She had a teamhigh 25 points on 9-of19 shooting, as well as 9 rebounds.

The Stars stormed out to a 20-15 lead after one and continued to outscore their opponent, 18-14, in the second quarter.

Lewis-Clark State was able to make up some ground in the third period, but Oklahoma City stood its ground to hold on for the win in the fourth.

Oklahoma City shot 51.9 percent from the field and held Lewis-Clark State to 37.7 percent shooting.

Lewis-Clark State was able to knock down 11-of34 shots from the perimeter, while Oklahoma City nailed 7-of-16 threepoint­ers.

Aside from Wallen, junior guard Daniela Galindo poured in 19 points, while senior guard Mariana Duran scored 15 points.

Caelyn Orlandi led Lewis-Clark State with 15 points.
