Moore School Board approves superintendent’s contract
Members of the school board have approved the contract of Superintendent Robert Romines for the 201718, 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years.
The contract was approved on Monday with the understanding it can be renegotiated annually by the board or Romines.
Under the new contract, Romines’ annual salary will go from $150,000 to $155,000 for the 2017-18 school year. There are no changes in his duties.
The board also approved the new posts of director of instructional technology and information technology budget procurement specialist. The board has not determined salaries for those jobs.
Romines said the instructional technology job, which has not been filled, will benefit teachers and students.
“We recently passed a bond issue (2015) that will allow us to place technology in the hands of our students and teachers. With this comes much training for parents, teachers, and students,” he said.
Romines said the budget procurement specialist “will be responsible for purchasing technology, inventory, bids, etc.”
“With the passage of the 2015 bond, both new job descriptions are a must. Our community support and trust is extremely important. Both positions will be instrumental as new technology money becomes available,” Romines said.
The board also heard from David Peak, assistant superintendent of secondary education and instruction, concerning the district’s 2015-16 dropout rate.
Peak said that districtwide, the secondary dropout number was 95 students. He said the 2014-15 year’s dropout number was 120 students.
Peak said the dropout number reflects only those students who dropped out, “and we have no more knowledge of them.” He said the dropout number did not include those students who transferred to other districts and their new schools requested their records.
