Amid a recruiting process that began when he was only a freshman, Southmoore quarterback Casey Thompson is ready to make his college commitment official.

The state’s top quarterback recruit in the junior class is set to make the announcement at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, picking from a list of five out-of-state schools.

Arizona State, North Carolina, Miami, Tennessee and Central Florida make up the list that Thompson will pick from.

Rivals.com ranks the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Thompson as the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback in the country. He has thrown for more than 6,500 yards and rushed for more than 2,000 with 109 total touchdowns in his career.

Currently, six players in the 2018 class have committed, all to in-state schools. That includes Thompson’s Southmoore teammate Brey Walker, an offensive lineman committed to OU.

OCS’ Morris becomes state’s first Division I lacrosse signee

Even when he was 10 years old JP Morris had it in his mind to do something believed to have never happened in Oklahoma before.

He wanted to play Division I lacrosse.

Wednesday afternoon that became a reality when the Oklahoma Christian School athlete signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland.

“Everything I’ve worked for is finally paying off,” Morris said. “It’s always proving people wrong that keeps me going.”

Morris is a 6-foot-2, 255pound midfielder capable of throwing 98 mph on a lacrosse field.

He started playing lacrosse in Edmond as a second grader. Now, he travels the country during the summer with his team based in Frisco, Texas, while also playing locally for an Edmond team in the spring.

He also played football for OCS, where he starred as a lineman and tight end.

Deer Creek’s Kerstetter to be walk-on at OSU

Throughout the past two seasons Deer Creek star receiver Zach Kerstetter got an up-close look at a couple former Oklahoma State players.

He worked with former OSU quarterback Brayden

Stringer, who was the Antler’s receivers coach. Then last season he worked with former OSU receiver

Josh Cooper, Deer Creek’s offensive coordinator.

Kerstetter wanted to share their college experience, even if he didn’t get a scholarship offer.

On Wednesday, he took a step to make that happen.

Kerstetter announced during a ceremony that he has accepted an offer to be a preferred walk-on next year for the Cowboys.

Kerstetter was a dynamic receiver for the Antlers despite his 5-foot-7 frame, especially as a junior when he caught 80 passes for 1,278 yards and 15 touchdowns.
