Sooners sweep Jayhawks

Iowa State 10, Oklahoma State 9

Iowa State handed Oklahoma State its first Big 12 loss in 2017 with a 10-9 victory in Ames, Iowa on Saturday.

The Cowgirls surged ahead in the top of the sixth inning as it scored five runs.

Trailing 9-7, Iowa State tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Cyclones then won the game on a broken squeeze play as stole home to end the game.

Oklahoma State (28-16, 8-1) hosts Central Arkansas on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Oklahoma State’s baseball team lost its fifth consecutiv­e series in Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday.

The Cowboys fell to the Jayhawks 4-2 at Hoglund Ballpark.

Oklahoma State opened the scoring, plating an unearned run on an Garrett Benge RBI in the top of the first. Kansas tied the game in the bottom half of the frame and tthen scored a run in both of the next two innings.

Oklahoma State cut into the lead with Colin Simpson’s seventh home run of the season. Simpson sent a solo shot to left field in the top of the sixth.

Oklahoma State returns home on Tuesday when Oral Roberts visits Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start.

Michigan sweeps OU

The Oklahoma baseball team was swept for the first time this season at the hands of Michigan on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines (29-7) won 6-2, dropping Oklahoma to 27-12 on the season.

OU played the weekend series without its ace, top two relievers and starting second baseman.

Sophomore right-hander Kyle Tyler made his first start since March 4. Tyler gave up one run on three hits, two walks and struck out one in five innings worked.
