Denver drafts Kelly as Mr. Irrelevant

The final day of the NFL draft ended with a player who was far from irrelevant in college being picked last. Mississipp­i quarterbac­k

Chad Kelly, a talented player with a history of off-thefield issues and injuries, was the 253rd and final selection Saturday by the Denver Broncos.

Kelly started his college career as a highly rated recruit at Clemson. He was dismissed from the team after being a disciplina­ry problem and went to junior college before landing at Ole Miss. In two seasons with the Rebels, he passed for 6,800 yards and 50 touchdowns.

Seahawks draft East Central’s David Moore

The Seattle Seahawks selected East Central receiver David Moore with the 226th pick in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL draft on Saturday.

Moore recorded 878 yards on 57 catches, 15.4 yards per catch and 10 receiving touchdowns in his senior season.

He is the fourth East Central player in program history to be taken in the draft and first since the Cleveland Browns picked Armonty Bryant in the seventh round of the 2013 draft.

Moore is a native of Gainesvill­e, Texas, and is listed at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds.

Maccagnan announced after the team finished making its picks Saturday that Smith was injured the week before their offseason workouts.
