The Dining Room is the new name of a familiar landmark at 301 W Main in Moore. No longer will the Del Rancho cowboy be seen holding a steak sandwich on the sign on the northwest corner of W Main and N Chestnut in Old Town.

Brandy Goforth-Jones’ franchise contract with Del Rancho USA ended in March, and as of April 3, the restaurant has a new menu and a new outlook.

Goforth-Jones said she “wanted a chance to be independent and have more freedom.”

She said she wanted to be more creative with her menu. Some prices already have been lowered, she said. Monthly hamburger specials are planned to begin by summer. She said catfish with homemade tartar sauce also will be on the menu.

Goforth-Jones said she wants The Dining Room to offer “what the town wants.”

Desirae Goforth is the chef and is involved in preparing the new burgers, secret sauces and breading.

The old Del Rancho signage has been removed, and the new signage project is underway. Goforth-Jones said that on the first day, two people started to walk out when they realized the place was no longer a Del Rancho. But they were convinced to stay.

“When they finished eating, they said they would be back,” she said.

The Moore location was not the only Del Rancho in the metro area, and the others remain with the Del Rancho branding.

Goforth-Jones said the building formerly was a chicken restaurant, which her parents bought in 1972 and also bought a Del Rancho franchise for the location. She said that as a young person, she did not work in the restaurant.

“I spent a lot of time back there in a booth as they worked,” she said, pointing toward a row of booths.

Goforth-Jones graduated from Westmoore High School in 1991 and has a computer education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. She took over the restaurant after her father died in 2004.

With the move away from the Del Rancho brand, she said she is not allowed to use the words “famous” or “supreme” in her menu or signage. On the restaurant’s east side, “Famous Steak” and “Supreme” have been removed from a slogan that once proclaimed “Home of Moore’s Famous Steak Sandwich Supreme.”

The Dining Room offers a steak sandwich.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 794-4584.

The Bible admittedly doesn’t answer all our questions about Heaven; Heaven is too great, and our minds are too small, to understand it completely right now. The Apostle Paul put it this way: “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

But one thing is certain: We will not be bored in Heaven! In Heaven we will be in God’s presence forever — and just as He is infinite, so the experiences He gives us will be infinite. He also is omniscient (that is, He is limitless in His knowledge), and no matter what we learn in Heaven, there will always be more to discover. I often think of the Apostle Paul’s statement: “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” (Romans 11:33).

But there are at least two other reasons why we won’t be bored in Heaven. First, God will have work for us to do. The Bible doesn’t go into detail — but can you think of anything more exciting than working for God in Heaven? Second, the Bible says Heaven will also be a place of rest. The Bible says, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord . ... They will rest from their labor” (Revelation 14:13).

Heaven is the destiny of every believer — not because we’re perfect, but because Jesus Christ died and rose again to save us. Is your faith and trust in Him?
