Calhoun’s walk-off homer gives OKC win

Second baseman Willie Calhoun hit a walk-off homer to lift the Oklahoma City Dodgers to a 3-2 victory Wednesday night over the Sacramento River Cats at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Calhoun’s lead-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning was his seventh of the season and it gave the Dodgers their fourth straight win.

Right fielder Trayce Thomson also homered for the Dodgers, a solo shot in the fourth. It was Thompson’s third home run in four games.

After falling behind 2-0, the Dodgers tied the game 2-2 in the fifth inning when shortstop Darnell Sweeney scored from second base on a throwing error.

Pitcher Josh Ravin (1-0) got the win in relief for the Dodgers, tossing two scoreless innings and fanning five batters.

Oklahoma City starter Justin Masterson pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out seven.

Sacramento’s only runs of the game came on a two-run dinger by left fielder Ryder Jones in the first inning.

The Dodgers finish an eight-game home stand Thursday night with a 7:05 p.m. game against Sacramento. Oklahoma City will be looking for a sweep of the four-game series against the River Cats.

After Thursday night’s game, Oklahoma City then goes on a 12-game road trip and doesn’t return home until June 1.
