Senior Katarina Adamovic and the Oklahoma State women’s tennis team are back in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. Adamovic has 93 career wins with the Cowgirls, who take on No. 8-ranked Georgia Tech on Friday.

Oklahoma State senior Katarina Adamovic enters the NCAA Women’s Tennis Sweet 16 this weekend with 93 career victories as the Cowgirls aim for a return trip to the finals.

No. 9 OSU (24-5), a regional champion for a third-straight year, will face No. 8 Georgia Tech (27-4) at 6 p.m. Friday in Athens, Ga., with the winner advancing to play either No. 1 Florida or No. 16 Texas A&M on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Adamovic, a Serbia native who reached the NCAA individual quarterfinals last summer, discussed a variety of topics with The Oklahoman in the days leading up to the Sweet 16.

Q. How is your health after shoulder soreness in the Stillwater regional?

A. "I’ve got some treatment and talked with doctors, and definitely I’ll be ready. It feels better. It was just kind of overuse from matches, and it was kind of tough to serve on Sunday. But coming to this week, there is nothing that will stop me from competing and giving my best. It’s NCAAs, after

all."

How much practice do you need this late in the season to be match ready?

"It all depends. I’m someone who likes to always hit before matches extra, that’s how I kind of get going before the matches. But definitely, right now at this point, when I have some problems, I can benefit from a day off more than hitting. I won’t forget playing tennis if I take a day off."

How do you feel now compared to this time last season at the Sweet 16?

"It’s my last year, so it’s kind of special, I’m not going to lie. To make it to the main site and play there, it’s a really unique experience. Every year has its own magic. I would say this one is also magical on its own. I’m really excited to go out there and just compete ... and see how far we can go."
