State parks still waiting on budget
There is still uncertainty surrounding the possible closures of some Oklahoma state parks.
“There will be no final decisions made until a state budget is finalized and the agency receives its appropriation,” Department of Tourism and Recreation spokeswoman Leslie Blair said in an email.
“The agency is in the process of reviewing many different budget trimming scenarios, but will not make any final decisions until it is known what the appropriation is and the agency’s final budget situation is determined.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that 16 of Oklahoma’s 35 state parks could close or be handed over to municipalities to run.

Northern shoveler selected for 2018-19 stamp
The deadline is Aug. 31 for artists wishing to participate in this year’s Oklahoma Waterfowl Stamp design competition.
The Northern shoveler is this year’s selected subject for the contest that has been conducted annually since 1980 by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
The winning artwork will serve as the design for the 2018-19 Oklahoma Waterfowl Stamp, which can be bought by waterfowl hunters in the state and stamp collectors nationwide.
The winning artist will receive a $1,200 purchase award courtesy of NatureWorks, a Tulsabased conservation organization.
The state waterfowl hunting license is required to be carried by anyone hunting waterfowl in Oklahoma, unless exempt. The license costs $10 and will go on sale June 1.
The 2017-18 Oklahoma Waterfowl Stamp features a green-winged teal.
The artwork was created by Mark S. Anderson of Sioux Falls, S.D.
