Dalton transfers to ULL

Oklahoma softball utility player Alissa Dalton, who played in 31 games this season as a freshman, announced she is transferri­ng to Louisiana-Lafayette.

Dalton started 29 games early in the season, splitting time between left field, catcher and shortstop. But after hitting .326 with a home run and 18 RBIs, Dalton did not play in the final 21 games of the season as the Sooners made their run to a second consecutiv­e Women’s College World Series title.

Batista makes Timbers debut

Former Heritage Hall star Lamar Batista made his debut with Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old Batista was called up for the MLS club’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match with Seattle. The Sounders won 2-1.

Harris, Papa make All-Star team

NCAA doubles champions

Andrew Harris and Spencer Papa of Oklahoma were named to the 2017 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team.

“This is a very prestigiou­s award given by the ITA each year,” Oklahoma men’s tennis coach Nick Crowell said in a release. “They have both worked so hard this year and I’m so proud to see them honored this way. It will be exciting for them to go to New York in the fall for the U.S. Open and it’ll be great to see them honored among the nation’s best.”

Cummins takes first round lead

Weatherfor­d’s Quade

Cummins shot a 7-under 63 to top the leaderboar­d after one round of the 102nd Southweste­rn Amateur Golf Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz. Cummins was a redshirt freshman on OU’s 2016-17 men’s golf team.
