Gov. Mary Fallin and several other governors on Thursday met with President Donald Trump to talk about workforce development.

Trump signed an executive order to expand apprenticeships and vocational training. The order removes federal restrictions that prevented some industries from creating apprenticeship programs.

A few years ago, Fallin launched Oklahoma Works to ensure students are prepared for highquality, high-paying jobs that the state wants to retain and attract.

“Oklahoma Works is about getting students and adults the tools they need to find great careers,” Fallin said in April 2015. “It’s also about ensuring we have a skilled, educated workforce that can support our businesses. The process works best when it is driven locally and by the private sector.”

Fallin was expected to leave Washington, D.C., later in the day for the Paris Air Show. She will lead a trade delegation, said Michael McNutt, a Fallin spokesman.

While overseas, she will also visit Denmark as part of an economic development trip, McNutt said.

The Oklahoma Business Roundtable covers the cost of the governor’s trip to Paris and Denmark, he said.

Fallin is expected to return June 24, McNutt said.

A Pennsylvania woman died Wednesday afternoon in a Cimarron County crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

Marie J. Dorssos, 64, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was dead at the scene about 12:35 p.m. on U.S. 56 about 9 miles southwest of Boise City in Cimarron County.

Dorssos was driving southwest on U.S. 56 when the pickup she was driving went across the opposing lanes and the pickup rolled and landed in a field. She was not wearing a seat belt and she was ejected.
