Police release name of man killed in shooting

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Friends are remembering a man killed Thursday in an apartment complex shooting as warm, generous and good-hearted.

Timothy Niedo, 25, a transient, was shot and killed near the leasing office at the apartments about 11 a.m. Thursday at 6300 N Meridian Ave., police report.

Police said the shooter and Niedo had “some type of verbal exchange,” before the shooter pulled out a pistol and opened fire. The shooter then fled the scene.

Niedo was a good person who was always smiling and laughing, friends who were close to him said.

Dylan Sweezy, a friend of Niedo’s, said Niedo was her first love when the two attended Taft Middle School together. She said she was always impressed with his generosity.

“If his sisters were hungry he would feed them — if they needed something he would get it,” Sweezy said.

Jasmine Walker, another longtime friend of Niedo’s who dated him in middle school as well, said he was the type of person who would do anything for those he cared about.

“He had a good heart,” Walker said. “If you needed anything you could call him. He was one of those people he’d do anything for you if you needed him.”

Walker said she had just spoken with him the night before his death. She said Niedo did not deserve what happened to him.

“You don’t want to think something like that could happen to somebody you care about,” Walker said.

Niedo leaves behind two young daughters, Walker said.

Police have not reported an arrest in the case.
