Jurrjens’ apologizes for suspension

Former major league pitcher Jair Jurrjens was trying to make a comeback with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, but his season is now over and perhaps his career. Jurrjens was suspended 80 games after testing positive for a performing enhancing drug.

Oklahoma City’s bats finally slowed down, but Omaha’s did not.

The Storm Chasers pounded a plethora of Dodgers relievers Friday night for a 10-6 win in front of 10,217 fans at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to split the four-game series.

The Dodgers entered the night having scored 66 runs in their past seven games, including five games with at least 10 runs.

After Omaha scored five runs in the first, OKC was unable to complete a comeback, though it got off to a hot start with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

who had made two appearances as a reliever, allowed 10 runs — nine earned — and 12 hits over 3

OKC did score a run in the ninth, but left the bases loaded.

Culberson finding swing

has made tough plays look routine at shortstop. And he was hoping that would lead to good things at the plate.

After a slow start at the plate that’s finally happening.

Culberson entered Friday on a seven-game hitting streak. He was batting .393 with five RBIs in that span.

“I knew it would come at some point,” Culberson said. “It’s just a feeling. As we’ve got further along in the season I’ve felt better.”

Culberson made some tweaks to his swing with hitting coach

But as he worked it was easy for manager

to stick with Culberson. “He’s so good defensively and to find shortstops as good as him is not easy to do,” Haselman said. “For me, when you have guys that are that elite at their position defensibly you can always be way more patient for their bats to come around.”
