Energy meets Vancouver 2

- BY JAMES POLING, STAFF WRITER

Oklahoma City Energy will play at Vancouver Whitecaps 2 for the first time since Vancouver defeated OKC in the 2016 United Soccer League playoffs, but both rosters are vastly different than the two sides that met last October.

•When: 5 p.m., Saturday •Where: UBC Thunderbird Stadium, Vancouver, Canada •TV: News 9 Plus (Cox 7)

Three things to know

• A rematch of last year’s Western Conference Semifinals, Vancouver scored the winning goal in the 89th minute for a 3-2 win. Neither the Energy or Whitecaps 2 resembles the same rosters that played last October, and none of Vancouver’s three goal scorers from that match remain with the club. • OKC Energy striker Andy Craven has assumed the role of penalty kick taker after scoring all three of the club’s awarded penalties in the past two matches. Before Craven, the Energy were 1 of 4 converting penalties in 2017. • Whitecaps 2 have lost only twice at home this season (both losses to San Antonio and Real Monarchs, who are in a two-way race to win the Western Cofnerence), but Whitecaps 2 have yet to earn a marquee win this season either.
