Summer workshop tackles ‘sizzling’ topics

will feature a spectrum of topics of interest to genealogists, from littleknown historical accounts to advances in DNA technology. The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 4-5, Chesapeake Room, Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive.
Jointly sponsored by the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Division and the Oklahoma Genealogical Society, speakers will include executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society, former director of the Office of American Indian Culture & Preservation at Oklahoma Historical Society; and
Historical Society research librarian.
The Aug. 4 itinerary will include a general session from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a presentation by Blackburn on
The program will feature settlement patterns and economic development to politics and citizens of the Five Civilized Tribes. Blackburn also will provide information about the past, present and future of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
A general session the Aug. 5 will feature an all-star panel discussion on various topics, including genealogy software programs, how to get started or jump start your DNA progress and getting the next generation of genealogists interested.
