Oklahomans across the state are celebratin­g Independen­ce Day.

Independen­ce Day events are planned in communitie­s across the state, with activities continuing through Tuesday:

• In Oklahoma City, there’s the Bricktown 4th Fest and the Red, White, and Blue Festival in the Wheeler district, both on Tuesday, and Red, White, and Boom on Monday at State Fair Park.

• Midwest City’s Tribute To Liberty at Joe B. Barnes Regional Park includes a fly-over of vintage World War II planes, set for 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

• Yukon’s Freedom Fest is Monday with a free concert by the Rodeo Opry Band from 5 to 7:45 p.m. in Chisholm Trail Park. The fireworks show starts at 10 p.m. On Tuesday, the Freedom Fest Car Show is at 10 a.m. and the children’s parade at 11 a.m. Evening events include a hot dog eating contest and a concert by the Oklahoma City Philharmon­ic. • Nichols Hills: The July 4 parade is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday at Kite Park. Visitors are invited to wear patriotic costumes and children are encouraged to ride decorated bicycles in the parade. Games and other events are planned after the parade, and patriotic music will be played by the Nichols Hills Band. For more informatio­n, call 843-6637 or parade Chairman Wiley Hugos at 7556565.

• The Norman Day Celebratio­n starts in the afternoon at Reaves Park in Norman and includes live music, food, moon bounces, games, pony rides and more. Fireworks start at 9:45 p.m. More informatio­n is available at www.visitnorma­n.com.

• Moore’s Heartland Festival is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday in Buck Thomas Park. The festival will feature a children’s activity tent, a sand pit and helicopter rides. A fireworks show is scheduled after dark.

• Chickasha’s Freedom Fest fireworks show is at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Springs Park.

• Fourth of July Fun at Lake Eufaula continues until Tuesday.

• In Grove, events Monday include free watermelon, music by Ron Young, fishing and boating. Fireworks that evening will be at Wolf Creek. On Tuesday at the Har-Ber Village Independen­ce Day celebratio­n in Grove, there will be hand-cranked ice cream. It’s from 10 a.m. to noon.

• Eufaula will have its 3rd of July Fireworks Spectacula­r, beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a water slide, bounce house, food trucks and snow cones before the fireworks at about 8:30 p.m.

• In Skiatook, $12,000 worth of fireworks will be seen at Fantasy in the Sky. The event is from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday with live music, food and a glow in the dark balloon display.

• Laverne’s July 4 celebratio­n will feature golf, basketball, a swim meet, a home run derby, free barbecue and a pancake breakfast. The event begins at 7 a.m. and continues until 10 p.m.

• In Tonkawa, the Fourth of July Celebratio­n features a coin toss, disc golf throw, Mr. Muscle contest and a Tiny Tot contest.
