Woman wanted in Oklahoma City man’s death

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

An Oklahoma City woman was being sought by police Friday in the death of a man whose body was found last month under a bridge.

Jazmine Shawnte Howard, 24, is wanted on murder and robbery complaints in the death of Jose Miguel Lopez, 29, of Oklahoma City. Lopez’s body was found June 13 in the 8800 block of W Reno Avenue under the North Canadian River bridge in Oklahoma City, police reported.

Family of Lopez reported him missing June 10, police reported. Lopez never returned home after visiting an Oklahoma City bar, police reported in an arrest warrant affidavit filed Thursday in Oklahoma County District Court.

On June 12, his family was able to locate his abandoned pickup at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex using the vehicle’s GPS, police reported. There appeared to be blood on the seats inside the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Using the GPS, investigators were able to track where the pickup had traveled before it was found at the complex, police reported. The GPS showed the vehicle traveled to various places in Oklahoma City, including the area where the victim’s body was found, police reported.

Another location was a gas station, where video surveillance showed the victim’s pickup and a black female getting out of it to go inside, according to the affidavit.

Police identified the woman as Howard, according to the affidavit. Howard’s cellphone GPS showed she was in the same locations as the GPS for the victim’s pickup, police reported.

Man injured in northeast OKC shooting

Police found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound about 10:45 a.m. Friday at NW 5 and N Brauer Avenue, authorities said.

The man was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Police said the man’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Witnesses told police that an argument broke out between two men outside a house in the area. Sometime during the argument, one of the men went inside the house, came back out with a gun and shot the other man, police said.
