Cavaliers agree to deal with Jeff Green

-

The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.3 million contract with free agent forward Jeff Green.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds for the Orlando Magic last season. He previously played for Oklahoma City, Boston, Memphis and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Green sat out the 201112 season with a heart condition. He will turn 31 in August.

Myers credits Durant for keeping Warriors together

Kevin Durant helped the Warriors win an NBA championship during his first year with Golden State. General manager Bob Myers is also crediting the Finals MVP with keeping the core of that team together.

Myers repeatedly brought up Durant’s decision to take a pay cut and sign a team-friendly two-year deal worth approximately $53 million rather than go for a max deal.

That, Myers said, was the instrumental move in Golden State’s ability to re-sign key veterans Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.

“His gesture of taking less gave us the ability to be very aggressive in pursuing Shaun and Andre,” Myers said. “I can pretty much unequivocally say without it, we’re not looking at the team we have right now. What Kevin did shows who he is, shows what he’s about and I think it’s clear that that’s winning.

Pachulia to return to Warriors

Center Zaza Pachulia has agreed to a $3.5 million, oneyear contract to stay with the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, his agent,

Mark Bartelstein, said Friday. Golden State’s starter in a three-center rotation last season, the 33-year-old Pachulia averaged 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.1 minutes during the postseason, and scored in double digits four times.

Pachulia played for $2.9 million last season, willing to take a lower salary to be part of a team that would chase a championship — and he wound up with his first ring after 14 NBA

seasons.

Pistons trade Morris to Celtics

One of the biggest questions facing the Detroit Pistons this offseason was what they would do with

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

On Friday, they replaced him.

The Pistons traded forward Marcus Morris to Boston in exchange for guard Avery

Bradley and a second-round draft pick in 2019. Bradley’s arrival gives the Pistons a replacement for Caldwell-Pope, who had been a restricted free agent. Detroit has now renounced the rights to Caldwell-Pope.

Bradley averaged 16.3 points per game last season for the Celtics, but Boston is adding All-Star forward

Gordon Hayward and moving on from Bradley. Morris averaged 14 points for Detroit.
