St. Jude Dream Home nears completion
EDMOND — If these floors could talk. Actually, they do. Suppliers, supporters and well-wishers of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway put pen to their thoughts — and floors — recently at this year's prize, a nearly finished house by Foster Signature Homes at 8225 Ridge Creek Road in northeast Edmond.
"It's really an event to thank all our subcontractors, the people who donated to make this home possible," St. Jude representative Emily Dover said of the fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
St. Jude, one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers, treats patients regardless of ability to pay.
Tickets for a chance to win the home, estimated value $500,000, are available for $100 each by calling 800-592-1596 or going to www.dreamhome.org.
"We get all our partners to come out, we get our patient families to come out, all our media sponsors — we get everyone together to sign well wishes to the future homeowners, the winner," Drover said.
Open house tours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays from July 15 to Aug. 20. The winner of the home and other prizes will be announced Aug. 23 on Fox 25.
To get to the home: from Interstate 35, exit east onto Covell Road and go 2.4 miles; turn north onto N Douglas Boulevard and go 1.5 miles; turn left into Ridge Creek addition; the house is on the corner to the right, at the first cross street.
This is the first time for Foster Signature Homes, based in Norman, to build a St. Jude Dream Home.
The 3,000-square-foot home has four bedrooms, three baths and a half-bath. It features a rustic farmhouse style with a big, covered front porch, private master bedroom patio, bonus loft area, custom-built cabinetry, granite counter tops, 12-foot ceilings in the family room and kitchen, barn doors on the study and a dressing area in the master closet.
