A former middle school teacher is accused of assaulting two students when they tried to use the restroom after class.

Douglas G. Ford is charged in Oklahoma County District Court with two counts of misdemeanor assault and battery stemming from a January incident at Jefferson Middle School, 6800 S Blackwelder.

Oklahoma City Public Schools terminated Ford on July 3 after his teaching certificate was suspended by the state Board of Education. Ford previously taught at Roosevelt Middle School.

Neither Ford, 61, nor his attorney could be reached Friday for comment.

According to a court affidavit, one of the students asked Ford to use the restroom but was told he had to “wait until after class was over.”

After class, the student preceded to the restroom, where Ford was waiting. The teacher informed the student he could not use the facility, police reported in the affidavit.

The student told Ford he had already given him permission to use the restroom and walked behind the teacher and into it, police reported.

A second student also tried to enter the restroom when Ford pushed the boy in the chest and knocked him backward into the hall, the affidavit stated.

Ford entered the restroom, grabbed the other student by the shirt and pulled him into a corner where he used his body to pin the boy before yelling “What did I tell you?” police reported.

The other student entered the restroom and told Ford to get off the boy.

When he tried to push the teacher off the boy, the teacher turned around and pushed the student in the chest and “kicked him in the leg,” police reported.

A third student heard the commotion, walked into the restroom and witnessed the incident, police reported.
