Crashes claim four in state
An Okmulgee man died when he was hit by a train Saturday, and three people hurt in previous wrecks have died, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Karl Matthew Clayton, 30, Okmulgee
About 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Clayton was walking on railroad tracks just south of Schulter in Okmulgee County. He was struck and killed by a train
The train’s horn was sounded for approximately one mile before the crash, troopers said.
Cecil Summer, 73, Vinita
Summer died Sunday afternoon from injuries suffered in a June 22 crash northeast of Adair in Mayes County.
Summer died at a Tulsa hospital, troopers said.
Erika Solle, 81, Lebanon, Tennessee
Solle died Sunday morning from injuries suffered in a May 14 crash on the Will Rogers Turnpike, about 3 miles west of Miami in Ottawa County.
Solle died at a Joplin, Missouri, hospital, troopers said.
George L. Golden, 54, Eufaula
Golden died Sunday of injuries suffered June 29 in a Pittsburg County motorcycle crash.
Shortly after 1 p.m. June 29, Golden was driving the motorcycle east on State Highway 9, just east of Carlton’s Landing. He swerved to miss a deer, and the bike went down. He was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
