Alex Noren finishes strong at Royal Birkdale
T6. Alex Noren -4 (6872-69-67—276)
The Swedish golfer came away with a top-ten finish after shooting a 3-under 67 on Sunday.
Outside of a shaky start on day two, the 35-yearold Noren put together a solid effort at Royal Birkdale.
The former Oklahoma State golfer shot for par on six of the first nine holes on Sunday. He birdied the other three.
Noren bogeyed on the 11th hole, but finished strong to climb nine spots up the leaderboard to close the tournament.
T22. Rickie Fowler E (71-71-67-71—280)
Fowler shot a 1-over-par 71 after an up-and-down final day at Royal Birkdale for the former Oklahoma State golfer.
On the par-four fifth hole, Fowler birdied for his first of three on Sunday. He bogeyed four times, however, including the tenth hole, which gave Fowler trouble on days one and two of the tournament.
T44. Peter Uihlein +3 (72-72-69-70—283)
Uihlein fell one spot down the leaderboard after shooting an even 70 on Sunday.
The former Oklahoma State golfer closed out stronger than he did the previous three days, birdying twice on the back nine.
T52. Jimmy Walker +4 (72-72-70-70—284)
The Oklahoma City native’s final day at Royal Birkdale started off promising.
The 38-year-old Walker looked like he might shoot his first sub-70 score of the tournament after birdying three times on the front nine.
Walker shot for par on eight of the last nine holes, but double bogeyed on the 15th hole.
