Speakers selected for business summit

NORMAN — Holly I. Schick, director of the U.S. Small Business Administra­tion’s Office of Government Contractin­g/Business Developmen­t, and David L. Nimmo, CEO of Chickasaw Nation Industries Inc., will be luncheon speakers at the Indian Country Businesses Summit.

The event is scheduled for Aug. 30-31 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Norman and is designed to promote strategies in government contractin­g and offer one-on-one matchmakin­g sessions with prime contractor­s and government contractin­g officers.

OCU economist is E Foundation fellow

Oklahoma City University economist Russell Evans has been named a distinguis­hed fellow at E Foundation.

Evans is executive director of the Steven C. Agee Economic Research and Policy Institute and director of the Center for Regional Economic Forecastin­g at OCU. he will serve as economic adviser to the executive team and directors at the E Foundation, lead an economic round table discussion with other fiscal policy experts and produced

a state budget that aligns strategic interests with sound economic underpinni­ngs, the foundation said Monday.

“Dr. Evans brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for solving root causes; likewise, his character is something we are excited to have on our team,” E Foundation CEO Michael Carnuccio said. “The capacity for Oklahoma to be economical­ly vigorous has not gone away, and Dr. Evans sees that clearly. ONE Gas Inc.

TULSA — ONE Gas Inc. on Monday reported a second-quarter profit of $20.6 million, or 39 cents a share, up from a net income of $20.3 million, or 38 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

Revenues increased to almost $280 million, up from $246 million in the second quarter of 2016. Operating income increased to $44.1 million, up from $43.6 million one year ago.

The natural gas utility company said it had 556 heating degree days across its service area in the second quarter, which is 16 percent warmer than normal, but 6 percent cooler than the year-ago quarter. Executives on Monday narrowed the company’s 2017 net income guidance to a range of $152 million to $162 million.

“We remain focused on investing in our systems to deliver natural gas to our customers safely and reliably,” CEO Pierce H. Norton II said. “Our solid results in the second quarter reflect this strategy, and we are on target to achieve our full-year 2017 guidance.” Oklahoma crude oil prices as of 5 p.m. Monday:
