UCO to hold interfaith fair

EDMOND —

The University of Central Oklahoma Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites religious and spiritual organizati­ons to attend its Stampede Week Interfaith Fair, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24 near Broncho Lake on the Edmond campus.

The fair is part of the annual welcome week for new and returning students, and gives students the opportunit­y to meet spiritual leaders and learn about upcoming events at houses of worship. To register by Aug. 7, go to www. uco.edu/diversity.

Veterans to get added benefits

NORMAN — Cleveland County has announced the rollout of additional benefits for veterans.

The benefits include free parking in new designated spaces on the west side of the courthouse. The spaces can be used for any courthouse business, including filing of DD-214s with the county clerk’s office.

The clerk’s office will file the forms, print new copies of filed forms and certify them at no charge to veterans. The treasurer’s office will make free copies of official military documents.

The commission­er’s office will notarize documents free for veterans. Property record cards are available free for veterans through the assessor’s office.

Kids can learn about seeds

“The Story of Seeds” is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 12 in the Terrace Room of the Myriad Botanical Gardens.

It is best for kids ages 6 to 10, who will learn about the different ways seeds travel, from hitchhikin­g to gliding, by examining seeds local and foreign to Oklahoma.

Participan­ts will read seed-related books, play a game and create stories of how seeds find their new homes.

The fee is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers of the gardens. Register by Aug. 8 at www.myriad gardens.org.
