Mother, grandmother charged in children’s disappearance
A mother who was arrested Thursday after disappearing with her children had planned to hide the girls with out-ofstate relatives, police say.
Prosecutors on Friday filed a kidnapping charge against Destiny MichelleKay Corsaut, who was reported missing July 3. Corsaut’s mother, Biancia Richardson, also faces a single count of accessory to kidnapping, a felony.
Corsaut and her three children, Izabella, 5, Anastachiah, 4, and Melaniey, 2, were located July 23 at an apartment in Oklahoma City. Investigators found that Corsaut had dyed her own hair and her children’s hair dark black in an attempt to change their appearance, and was planning to leave the state, Weaver said.
Records from a prepaid cellphone found in Corsaut’s possession showed several conversations with her mother, who police say gave Corsaut contact information for out-ofstate relatives who would be willing to hide the children.
Lt. Scott Weaver, a spokesman for the Chickasha Police Department, said Corsaut told investigators she and her children were being held against their will at the apartment by Lexxus Rockette, 22. Rockette told investigators she was unaware Corsaut and the children had been reported missing, and that they weren’t being held against their will.
When Rockette found a report saying Corsaut and the children were missing, she confronted Corsaut and tried to call the police, Weaver said. During the call, Corsaut took Rockette’s phone. Investigators found Rockette’s phone in Corsaut’s possession.
