8-DAY PICKLE

10 to 12 medium cucumbers 8 cups sugar

2 teaspoons pickling spice

Put whole cucumbers in container and cover with boiling water. Drain and repeat with boiling water each day for 4 days. On the fifth day, drain and slice cucumbers in ½ inch slices.

In large container, combine sugar, spices, vinegar and salt. Bring to boil. Pour over cucumbers and let stand two days. You have now reached day eight. Drain and bring liquid to boil. Put liquid and cucumbers in jars and seal.

Wesley United Methodist Women's Boutique began its sale Aug. 1, and they're holding it each Tuesday for the month of August. It features nearly new clothing, shoes and accessories and everything is $1.
