Focus on fitness
Taylor, a Stephens County 4-H’er, is now part of the Taylor family trifecta. Siblings Cathleen Taylor and Matt Taylor are previous hall of fame inductees.
“This really is the icing on the cake, a sweet ending to my 4-H career,” said Emily Taylor, a 2017 graduate of Marlow High School.
She was presented with the $1,200 Ira Hollar Advanced Leadership Scholarship sponsored by Bill Doenges and the $1,000 Harold and Jeanne Gibson Memorial Scholarship and recognized as a member of the Blue Award Group.
Taylor is a member of the Stephens County Teen Leaders Club and active in the achievement, health and fitness, citizenship and leadership project areas.
“I’ve really gotten excited about the fourth H — health. I think if youth like me help educate adults and other youth, we can put America back on a healthy path.”
She was instrumental in developing a video based on the song “All About that Bass,” with her version being “You Gotta Eat Your Fruits.” The video has been shown at the National Healthy Living Summit and featured on the National 4-H website, the Oklahoma 4-H website and 4-H websites in other states.
She just completed a year as vice president of the state leadership council. She was southwest district representative on the state leadership council and Stephens County vice president.
The daughter of Steve and Liz Taylor, she will attend East Central University and major in family and consumer sciences.
