Cubs win interleagu­e showdown

Jake Arrieta allowed only one run in 6 1/3 innings, and Javier Baez hit his 20th home run as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 at Wrigley Field in Chicago on Friday.

PAPILLION, NEB. — Paulo Orlando hit a 3-run home run in the first inning as the Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers 10-1 in the series finale.

Dodgers starter Justin Masterson pitched 6 ⅓ innings, but he allowed eight runs on 13 hits.

Omaha added two runs in the third, seventh and eighth innings. Reliever Jake Newberry earned the win after starter Brian Flynn was pulled after 3 ⅔ innings.

The Dodgers scored their only run off Kyle Farmer’s solo home run in the fourth inning.

Oklahoma City begin a series at division-leading Colorado Springs on Friday.

Muncy leads Dodgers to win

PAPILLION, NEB. — Max Muncy hit a run-scoring single in the fifth inning to give the Oklahoma City Dodgers a 4-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Thursday.

Kyle Farmer scored on the play after he reached base on a walk and advanced to second on a single by Edwin Rios.

Jeremy Bleich got Raul Mondesi to fly out with a runner on second to end the game for his second save of the season.

Bobby Wilson hit an RBI single, driving in Rios in the second inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. The Storm Chasers came back to take the lead in the second inning when Bubba Starling hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Brayan Pena.

Oklahoma City tied the game 3-3 in the fourth when Alex Verdugo hit an RBI single, driving in Charlie Culberson.

Verdugo singled twice, also stealing a base in the win.

Starter David Hale (2-2) got the win while Mark Peterson (2-3) took the loss in relief in the Pacific Coast League game.

Mondesi was a home run short of the cycle, also stealing a base for the Storm Chasers.
