George won’t rule out Parrish

Georgia coach Kirby Smart says there is still a chance cornerback Malkom Parrish could be ready for the start of the season following surgery last week to repair a broken bone in his foot.

Smart said after Saturday’s scrimmage that Parrish broke a “small bone” in his foot and will miss two to four weeks. Georgia plays Appalachia­n State on Sept. 2 in its opening game.

Oregon forward transfers to LSU

LSU basketball coach Will Wade says 6-foot-11 Oregon forward Kavell Bigby-Williams is transferri­ng to LSU this fall. The former national junior college player of the year will redshirt one year before becoming eligible to compete with the Tigers in 2018-19.

Heat signs Mickey

The Miami Heat have signed forward Jordan Mickey to a contract that will pay him about $1.5 million this season.

Mickey spent parts of the last two seasons with the Boston Celtics, appearing in 41 regular-season games and four postseason games. He averaged 1.5 points, with career highs of eight points, five rebounds and 19 minutes.

Baker sustains ankle injury

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says senior wide receiver Dorian Baker has sustained a “fairly substantia­l” ankle injury and is awaiting word from doctors on its severity. Stoops revealed Baker’s injury after Saturday’s second scrimmage and added that he hopes to have an update next week. The 6-foot-3, 211-pounder from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, is listed as one of the starting receivers.
