Labor Day celebratio­ns, events across Oklahoma

A number of festivals and other celebratio­ns are scheduled throughout Oklahoma for the Labor Day weekend:

Midwest City: The annual Doggy Paddle will be held at the Reno Swim and Slide on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event allows dog owners to bring their animals for a swim in the pool. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Nick Harroz Community Center or at the pool.

Yukon: After Freedom Fest was canceled in July due to weather, the city reschedule­d the celebratio­n for Labor Day at Chisholm Train Park. From 6 to 10 p.m., visitors can hear live music from a number of bands and a large fireworks display is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m.

Choctaw: The city’s annual Oktoberfes­t starts Monday at Choctaw Creek Park. Featuring homemade German food and live entertainm­ent, including live music and dancing, the event is $5 for adults and free for children under 12 years old.

Sulphur: A Labor Day celebratio­n will be held at the Chickasaw Cultural Center continues Sunday. The event will feature stomp dancing, cultural demonstrat­ions, storytelli­ng and special activities in the living village.

Henryetta: The Jim Shoulders Living Legends Rodeo continues through Sunday at Nichols Park. The annual event features ranch bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing. On Monday, the city’s Labor Day Celebratio­n starts with a parade at 10 a.m. and festivitie­s continue throughout the day, ending with a large fireworks show after dark.

Tuskhoma: The Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival and Powwow runs through Monday at the Choctaw Nation Capital Grounds. The annual event features a number of activities each day, including live music, tribal heritage activities, an intertriba­l powwow and carnival rides. Rentiesvil­le: Featuring dozens of live performers on three stages, the 27th annual Dusk Til Dawn Blues Festival, held each year at the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame, continues through Sunday.

Pryor: Freedom Fest is Sunday at Pryor Tiger Football Stadium. Starting at 5 p.m., the event will feature games, face painting, bounce houses, food vendors, live music and a fireworks show at the end of the night.
